Supermarkets generate a large amount of plastic waste. Although steps have been taken abroad in this regard, there is no such initiative in Turkey yet. Moreover, people do not have enough recycling habits. therefore, the number of plastic waste in the country is quite high.

I worked on reducing the amount of plastic waste by addressing the needs of users by taking advantage of the habit of using grocery shopping apps, which is quite common in Turkey.

Background:

   ● ”Supermarkets are where the average consumer encounters the most throwaway plastics.”

Research Objectives:

I want to understand the users’ thoughts, needs and perceptions before, during and after the supermarket or online supermarket experience to understand the whole user journey.

The Final Solution

The Final Solution

The Final Solution

It all began with sketches and wireframes, evolving into a homepage that's a showcase of the app's best features. As users explore, they discover the magic of the Previous Orders section, a gateway to effortless repurchasing of their essentials, nestled amidst a bounty of popular products, neatly categorized for their browsing pleasure.

But the adventure doesn't end there. With each click leading them deeper into our app's ecosystem, users find themselves immersed in a culinary journey unlike any other. The product page becomes a canvas for customization, where they can tailor quantities to their liking, with prices adjusting accordingly. Ingredients, expiry dates, and production details are all at their fingertips, ensuring transparency and trust.

The recipe section is a standout feature of Refill, allowing easy access to categorized recipes from the homepage. Users can select dietary preferences, browse popular products, or explore food categories for inspiration. Each recipe offers detailed features, preparation steps, and ingredient lists, with customizable serving sizes. Users can quickly add missing ingredients to their cart for a seamless shopping experience.

As they navigate to their account page, users find a treasure trove of past orders and customizable profiles, putting control firmly in their hands. And when it's time to checkout, options abound – from delivery dates to payment methods, every preference is catered to with care.

With each order delivered to their doorstep, users not only receive their goodies but also play a part in our sustainability mission, returning recyclable packages to be reused for future deliveries. It's not just about shopping; it's about crafting an experience that's as fulfilling as it is seamless, ensuring every user feels valued and empowered on their journey with us.

Retrospective

Retrospective

This project was my first personal UX/UI experience. It was a tough process to go through each step alone from start to finish, but in this way, I had the opportunity to experience every stage. Since I was alone, I lingered more in some parts. Every aspect of the project such as deciding on the project, finding people to contact, determining my design route was very enjoyable for me. During the project process, I took criticism from my designer friends and progressed.

There are parts of the project that need improvement based on the results and comments in the user test. Despite a few missing pages that need to be added, I got very positive feedback from people and they commented that they would really use it if this project was realized.
